Global Impact Initiative was founded in 2009 by a group of doctors, teachers, and engineers who witnessed the devastating effects of poverty while working in West Africa. What began as a water project serving 300 people in rural Senegal has since grown into a globally recognized humanitarian organization.
Today, we operate across 47 countries on four continents, with over 1,200 volunteers and 340 full-time staff. Our model is built on three core principles: community ownership, measurable outcomes, and radical transparency.

Seventeen women in Kano, Nigeria received microloans and business training in 2022. Today their textile cooperative generates $4,000 monthly, employs 30 people, and has fully repaid every loan.
American engineer Marcus Bello spent half a year installing solar water pumps across rural Cambodia. His account is a testament to what small technical investments can mean to a community.
